Finally got this done, after talking about it for a year or so. I ditched the 2" Superlift AAL that ive had from my TTB days, and swapped some non-bent main leafs into my spring packs. Technically they are from a early '80s F250, but they are identical to the broncos original main leafs. The difference between the two packs is the lower leafs, not the main. Anyways..... Wire-wheeled & painted all the leafs, and then swapped the new main leafs. Installed the zero-rate backwards of the way it was before, to push the axle forward 1.5", and then moved the front leaf spring hangars back 3". This gets the axle slightly backwards of where it was before i started this project, which is as far as im gonna go for now. At a later date i might use the zero rate to push the axle back a bit further. Since i ditched the AAL i plated & extended a pair of stock shackles to get some more lift out back, and then switched to the rear hole on the Sky bracket to get a better shackle angle. As it sits now its slightly low in the rear, so i might go back and mess around with it later; well see after i take it wheeling. The shocks are currently sitting at ~4.5" up, 6" down, vs. the front at ~5" up and 9" down, which gets both pretty balanced. The AALs made the springs very stiff, so im thinking that now the suspension will be pretty balanced front/rear. Well see how it goes. |
