After remembering i had an old broken Ford r/c in my closet, i decided to bust it out and swap the body on. The body's wheelbase is a little short, so i had to hack the hell out of the fenders to get it to fit. I made standoffs to hold the rear mounts, and added a screw up front where the cheesy gold blower used to be. I had ordered (much) larger batteries for mine & matt's r/c's, so now was the perfect time to put them in. I chopped up the cover for the electronics so the battery would lay on top, and notched the p/u bed to clear. Then did a tummy tuck to get some better ground clearance. Ended up switching to a 2300mAh AA pack instead cuz that one was just too heavy. Since the bumper had clear plastic headlights, i decided to mount LEDs behind them to make them functional. I also wired in a set of 360º LEDs into the rollbar, and am in thge process of wiring in a set of 3mm LEds for rocklights out back. Designed & built a custom set of beadlocks with matt to mount up 2.2s on both of our r/cs. They proved to be to much for the stock steering though so a servo swap had to be done. Stripped out the gears in the front axle, but it was warrantied so i swapped all the good parts into the ford and put the leftover parts back together to have a 'stock' nylint again. |
