This was a trip out to a sandpit in southern jersey with steve and joe. This was actually the second time we went out here, but i dont seem to have any pics of the first time.
Anyway, this trip was different than others for one main reason: i didnt drive home!
I was still a noob when it came to the detroit, and just wasnt sure what the truck was capable of, so i did all sorts of stupid things just to see how the truck would react. Well, i got in a little over my head. or should i say, over my tires!! I accidentally kinda swamped the truck in about 4' of water and muddy, silty stuff!! The interior of the truck was full of water at a level equal to the bottom of the glovebox! Well, steve tried to extract me, but was unsuccessful. Then both joe and steve tried, and we were still unsuccessful! So we had to break down and let the asshole wrecker driver do it, who almost rolled steve's truck the first time. (youll note in the 24th pic, that on steves rear axle, there is on 33" tire above water, and one underneath!!!)
My carpeting and seats had to be stripped and thoroughly dried. Actually, the carpeting never made it back into the truck, and i ended up just getting it rhino-lined 2 months later. By some sort of miracle, the next day i had the truck back up and running! it took about 12 hours for the truck to stop dripping, and i drained about a qt of water out of the oil, but other than that, there were no problems with it! |
