Paragon: Day Two Not too many pics from today. The camera was acting up, and i wasted half the day before i figured out it was due to a bunch of bad batteries. doh! First couple are a mudhole near the Mine. Its pretty gooey stuff. Unfortunately, Kev poppe his front drive-shaft, and had to winch himself out of it. Next three are from Laurel, which was a really cool trail, but i couldnt get the camera to work right yet, so i didnt get many. The second pic of the kevs jeep is where he popped the front d.s. for the second and final time. This is when he figured out that the trans wasnt secured properly, and thats why the strap bolts on the yok kept breaking. Unfortunately, we were now out of bolts, and he had to continue on in 2wd. The stump the furthest up the waterfall is the one that finally did in the front bumper on the bronco. While coming up and making a hard left around the tree to the left, i hit that stump and smahed the bumper in far enough to where i had to stop, beacue i was no longer able to straighten the wheels out.we winched it out so i could continue on, and the took it off when we got off the trail. After this, kev took his now-2wd CJ back to the staging area. The next set of pics are from Impossible Hill Trail. That name suits the trail rather well. Eric made it most of the way up before he ripped a valve stem off a tire, and then decided to use the winch to help him get up rather than damage the tire/rim. I barely made it up in the bronco, and everyone else needed to be winched up. The White YJ you see is Archie's. He is practicing for Neuroc next weekend on M with Dan, Brandy, Candi, & Eric (of EMSOffroad). He rolled it about 5 minutes earlier, and they were just getting it back on all fours when we found em. We hung around for 5 or so, but then decided to get outta their ways, and left to to run Chicken Run (the last two pics) before leaving the park. |
